A Spatial client required a line of business application to be built in SharePoint. We developed a prototype in SharePoint 2010.

the aim

To develop a line of business application using SharePoint 2010 that would allow the user to:

• Search for and maintain applications specific data
• Content manage user defined pages
• Report on business data
• Search and display location based data using Google Maps

The SharePoint application catered for three types of users:

• Intranet users who manage the application
• Extranet users who have edit access to their data
• Public users who have read only access to the data

the solution

The SharePoint application is a web-based line of business application. It uses the following technologies:

• SharePoint 2010
• Microsoft .NET Framework
• Windows Server
• SQL Server
• SQL Server Reporting Services
• ASP.NET
• Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
• Entity Framework
• Microsoft Office
• Google Maps
